Adolescent and Adult Therapy

ADOLESCENT THERAPY

The teen years can be a tumultuous time of life. Therapy can teach adolescents helpful coping skills so they effectively manage their emotions rather than internalize their feelings or behave in a destructive manner. The opportunity to confide in a safe and trusted adult during adolescence allows teens to make more responsible decisions and receive guidance and support.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a form of psychotherapy that allows people to heal from the emotional distress that results from experiencing traumatic life events. Repeated studies demonstrate that EMDR provides rapid relief of PTSD and trauma related symptoms.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

Individual therapy can provide support during challenging times and be a forum for the exploration of problematic thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Through therapy, individuals gain increased insight and awareness into their behavior and obtain specific strategies to more effectively manage their symptoms, alleviate stress, and improve their quality of life.

COLLEGE STUDENTS / YOUNG ADULT THERAPY

Are you new to college or a recent graduate from high school and feeling overwhelmed? Maybe you are having a difficult time focusing and it’s impacting your grades or you’re unsure what you want to study or what you want to do after graduation. If you need some support to get you through this tumultuous time in your life, you don’t have to sort through this on your own – I’d love to help!

We all experience difficult times in our lives, and there are instances when additional support can be helpful. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, a traumatic life event or experiencing difficulty in your career, educational journey, relationship or family life, therapy can help you conquer your difficulties and more effectively manage life’s challenges.

As a licensed therapist, I work with adolescents, young adults, and adults to provide guidance, support, and objectivity. I strive to combine an experienced clinical approach with a warm and caring environment. My specialties include the treatment of adolescents experiencing a variety of psychological difficulties as well as adults struggling with anxiety, depression, or looking to enhance their quality of life. I also focus my practice on college students and young adults who are navigating the complexities of this time period and with individuals who have experienced traumatic life events.

In terms of my philosophy and practice, I believe that each individual has unique needs, and therefore my approach is tailored specifically to the person in front of me. I have training in several empirically validated therapies such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). I work with both those seeking short-term therapy to resolve a specific issue and with those interested in doing deeper, longer-term work.

Choosing a therapist for yourself, your adolescent or your family can be an overwhelming experience. I encourage those considering therapy to find not only a good therapist, but a therapist that is a good fit.
